A Warm Welcome
Welcome to my blog! I love those four words. I've waited a while to actually type them. So happy to see where this blog takes us. My goal is to create a place for all of us to chat about knitting, crocheting, spinning...all things yarn and fiber related. I constantly listen to music as I knit or spin, so Rock'nit was born, the name combining two loves.
I live in Connecticut, born and raised here. I'm a mom of 3 (a sophomore in high school, one freshman in college and one U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class currently at Kadena Military Base in Okinawa, Japan for the next 2 years. He left 3 months ago.... I can't tell you how much I miss him but can tell you we are bursting with pride :) But he is in a beautiful place...here is a sunset photo he sent me <3
I've been knitting for 15 years, roughly. I cannot imagine a day without picking up my needles if only for a few minutes. Knitting has become like breathing. I also am a brand new spinner - very new! I have a new Ashford Kiwi 2 wheel and I hope to share my spinning adventures with you too.
Let's jump in to FO's (Finished Objects). Just a few days ago I finished Fiddly Bits by Jana Pihota. I LOVED knitting this infinity cowl. It's warm and comfy and colorful. I used a monstrous amount of fingering weight minis and knit them up on a size 2 circular.
Over 2 months time, I took this project along with me everywhere and knit on it every chance I could, loving watching the colors keep flowing. I knit to 90 inches in length - super long enough to wrap around at least 3 times.
WIPS this weekend include Favorite Scarf Ever by Lisa Bruce. I'm knitting this one out of a gorgeous skein of Play at Life Fiber Arts in the "Dukes of Haphazard" colorway on US Size 5 needles.
I had purchased it (on the left) along with another of her beauties at the Fiber Festival of New England at the Big E fairgrounds last November. LOVE this yarn! Super soft and a joy to knit up! I believe she will be a vendor again at this year's festival so be sure to make a stop at her booth!
I have so many hats and mittens and cowls to get started on for Christmas Knitting (ack!) along with...yes! The Throwback!
I am a little late to the party on this one but will be shopping for yarn for this tomorrow. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday.... I wish you a happy weekend full of great coffee and amazing yarn <3
